Katy Backes Kozhimannil, PhD, will lead a new aligned rural health initiative for CTSI and the Office of Academic Clinical Affairs (OACA). Carrie Henning-Smith, PhD, will also join CTSI’s Office of Rural Health as Deputy Director.
Shortly after healthcare system M Health Fairview converted Bethesda into a COVID-19 hospital, they teamed up with CTSI. Together, the partners built a robust infrastructure for COVID-19 research, pursuing innovative ways to engage Bethesda patients in the research process and optimize the way studies are conducted.
CTSI welcomes 28 faculty and academic leaders from across the health sciences to the Northern LITeS: Leadership for Innovative Team Science program that aims to further leadership skills and promote team science among senior faculty.

The Clinical Research Support Center, a partnership among the U's primary clinical research service groups aimed at helping investigators and study teams more efficiently navigate the clinical research environment and advance research projects more quickly, is slated to officially open its doors next month. The TL1 Program, for University of Minnesota pre- and post -doctoral trainees and medical fellows who are committed to a substantive and impactful career in translational research and team science, is CTSI's seventh program dedicated to building a pipeline of clinical and translational researchers. Dr. Jayne Fulkerson was recently named Director of the TL1 Program, and Dr. Angela Panoskaltsis-Mortari the Associate Director.
A CTSI team and supported resource, made possible through CTSI's Clinical and Translational Science Award, is contributing to the Minnesota Cancer Clinical Trials Network (MNCCTN) that aims to expand access to cancer clinical trials for all Minnesotans.
More than 2,100 faculty across the Academic Health Center recently received a short, personalized survey designed to help CTSI assess faculty training needs in statistics and informatics.
A recently enhanced partnership between CTSI's Biorepository and Laboratory Services (BLS) and the Department of Anatomic Pathology aims to increase availability of well-curated human research specimens and more efficiently process specimens for analysis by University of Minnesota investigators.
