University research resource cores and centers provide access to technologies, services, and expert consultation to advance scientific discovery.

Advanced Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (ARDL)
A research services laboratory that specializes in esoteric and specialty testing; services available include: biochemistry analyses; DNA purification and analysis; genotyping; lymphocyte cryopreservation and transformation; and customized method development.

Anatomy Bequest Program (ABP)
The nation’s third largest academically-housed, non-transplant anatomical donation program in cludes anatomical tissue support and a bio-skills training lab. The ABP offers a wide variety of services including normal and pathological tissue availability, experienced lab technicians can perform specialized dissections and preparations for sepcific research requests, and plastination services. 

BioTechnology Institute 
Provides services and education for advanced research in biological process technology.

Center for Applied and Translational Sensory Science
An interdisciplinary enterprise focused on enhancing the capability and well-being of persons with sensory loss by translating fundamental scientific research to functional and accessible devices and therapies that can maximize quality of life for those with auditory and visual loss.

Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR)
Biotechnology research resource for novel imaging, including high field magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy. 

Clinical Research Support Center (CRSC)
The CRSC supports researchers and study teams conducting clinical research by advancing clinical research projects more quickly, helping researchers navigate the University of Minnesota research process, and administering research studies from feasibility assessment and project initiation through recruitment, close-out, and publication. The CRSC unites experts in a single location to help researchers.

Center for Translational Medicine
Offers a portfolio of services that augment the development and implementation of novel, investigator-initiated treatment strategies. Partnership opportunities and services include: scientific review and evaluation of new development concepts and projects, consultation regarding regulatory requirements, study designs, and preclinical development plans, and support for FDA meetings and filings, IND and IDE development and submission, and Phase I clinical trial design and implementation.

Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI)
CTSI provides comprehensive support for the full spectrum of clinical and translational research. Offerings include: clinical data accesscommunity-engaged research support, informatics consultations, recruitmentstudy management and coordination, regulatory supportstatistical support, and translational research support

Comparative Medicine
The College of Veterinary Medicine houses this research core, which is focused on developing and studying animal models of human disease, from basic biology to induced disease, spontaneous genetic mutations, transgenic animal models, gene knock-out models, and spontaneous animal models of human disease.

Consortium on Law and Values in Health, Environment & the Life Sciences
The Consortium conducts research and fosters dialogue about important issues at the intersection of science and society, including events that provide the opportunity to hear from experts in bioethics, public policy, health care, and the life sciences.

Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology
This University department is home to research centers focused on research regarding orphan drugs, neuropharmacology, critical care, and drug response forecasting.

Experimental Surgical Services
Offers consulting and services for designing and conducting research to determine the safety and efficacy of medical devices. Facilities include a pathology laboratory, pre/post operative units, an angiography suite, an MRI unit, and extensive data archives.

Genome Engineering Shared Resource (GESR)
A Masonic Cancer Center Shared Resource Core dedicated to provide (at cost) state-of-the-art genome editing services for human cell lines for the use of all Masonic Cancer Center members.

Interpreter and Language Translation Resources and Handbook
The Medical School Research Office provides information on resources and best practices and approach to utilizing language services.

Institute for Therapeutics Discovery & Development 
Provides research services focused on small-molecule drug discovery and development. Services include: biological and screening services; medicinal, organic, and process chemistry; analytical and purification chemistry, and regulatory support with an IND/IDE assistance program.

Masonic Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office (CTO)
The CTO assists investigators in performing high-quality clinical research through an infrastructure includes state-of-the-art information systems and database facilities, expertise in the development and management of clinical trials, and development of IND/IDE applications and monitoring plans.

Masonic Cancer Center Shared Resources
Resources include analytical biochemistrybiostatisticscancer bioinformatics, cancer genomics, cancer informatics, comparative pathology, flow cytometryFV500 confocal microscopymouse genetics laboratory, translational cell therapy, and X-RAD biological irradiator.

Medical Devices Center
A program of University's Institute for Engineering in Medicine, the center combines basic research, applied and translational research, education and training, and outreach and public engagement all related to medical device research and development.

Medical Industry Valuation Laboratory
A program of the Medical Industry Leadership Institute in Carlson School of Management, the Medical Industry Valuation Laboratory brings together Carlson faculty and graduate students with industry innovators in need of a top-to-bottom production market analysis of their medical technology and its prospects in the market.

Molecular and Cellular Therapeutics
Offers state-of-the-art GMP/GTP compliant, full-service development and manufacturing of cell- and tissue-based products, monoclonal antibodies and other therapeutic proteins, as well as active pharmaceutical ingredients, for use in Phase I, II or III clinical trials. 

Mouse Genetics Laboratory (MGL)
Provides a comprehensive range of mouse embryo manipulation services, including a micro-injection laboratory, tissue culture, and administration capabilities in conjunction with dedicated animal housing space. Specialized services includeSPF rederivation of conventional mouse lines, cryopreservation, and in vitro fertilization.

Multi-Sensory Perception Laboratory
The Multi-Sensory Perception (MSP) Laboratory houses integrated research tools for studying audio-visual perception in a variety of simulated environments. The lab allows researchers to present visual, auditory and haptic stimuli to human participants in an acoustically and electrically shielded environment. Researchers can measure responses via behavioral, physiological, and neural responses.

Office of Measurement Services
Specializes in in-depth data collection assistance, including survey data collection, data processing, focus group services, and Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) software.

Research Animal Resources

State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC)
SHADAC health economists and policy analysts have expertise and resources available to cover the full range of technical, research and public policy involved in using federal and state data to inform health policy. SHADAC is a part of the Health Policy and Management Division of the School of Public Health at the University.

Stem Cell Institute core facilities
