CTSI hires new Clinical Trials Financial Services Director
Kathy Quandt, MBA, recently became Director of CTSI’s Clinical Trials Financial Services (CTFS) team.
In this role, Kathy will manage and oversee the CTFS team, which provides financial management throughout the life of a trial, from pre-award budgeting and contract negotiation to post-award oversight, invoicing, and reporting.
Kathy will focus on overall operations and collaborative relationships both within and outside of CTSI to better support University of Minnesota investigators. She’ll serve as the primary liaison for the CTFS to principal investigators, department chairs, the Sponsored Project Administration, Sponsored Financial Reporting, Office of General Counsel, Fairview Research Administration, internal service providers, and other University of Minnesota partners.
Kathy will be instrumental in efforts to expand upon CTSI’s growing financial and grants management platform, while strengthening relationships with our stakeholders.

Previously, Kathy served as a Principal Analyst at Allianz Life of North America, where she partnered with colleagues to create financial plans, aligned project funding to strategies and priorities, tracked project spending trends and forecasts, and recommended funding reallocations. In addition, Kathy has worked at Ameriprise Financial Services as an Asset Wealth Management Finance and Operations Lead, Finance Leader, and Development Program Manager.
Kathy holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from the University of St. Thomas. She also has a CPA certificate (inactive).
