Biomedical Informatics

Our goal is to use innovative, integrated informatics and communication solutions to reduce existing silos and barriers to collaboration within and between the University of Minnesota and our community partners.

We will do this through:

• Data-sharing agreements with community-based health information exchange networks.
• An interoperable data network using an evolving semantic grid-based approach to link clinical translational science research statewide.
• Informatics infrastructure to link consenting subjects and their health data to tissue repositories to facilitate genomic and proteomic research on large community populations.
• Informatics solutions that accelerate clinical translational science research translation into clinical practice by creating a library of, and distributing, e-learning modules, guidelines-based decision support software, and simulation training software through statewide electronic health record systems.
