Biomedical Ethics

CTSI Caution ConeOur goal is to transform consultation, education, and collaborative support in bioethics at the University of Minnesota and in the community by creating new services, educational offerings, and collaborative ethics support for research, as well as by integrating existing strengths in bioethics into CTSI.

We will do this through:

  • Consultation on ethical issues arising in clinical translational science research for researchers, members, and staff at UMN and in the community, with immediate response to urgent clinical translational science-research-related questions through a Clinical Research Ethics Service.
  • Prospective consultation, review, and development of guidelines for clinical translational science research in highly vulnerable populations.
  • Development of guidelines for clinical translational science research in children, including practices related to greater than minimal risk on children, the use of bioinformatics tools in research on children and adolescent populations, and other novel issues.
