Office of Discovery and Translation
The Office of Discovery and Translation (ODAT) will serve as an integrator, facilitator, and catalyst for bench-to-bedside translation.
We will do this through:
- Consultation and review of research ideas and data for assessing T1 translational potential.
- Links among promising projects and other investigators/technologists to increase translation potential.
- Assistance with intramural and extramural funding requests for new translational initiatives in the early stage of development that have high bench-to-bedside translation potential.
- Facilitation of IND/IDE submission, patent protection, and commercialization by serving as an advisor and liaison to the investigator and research team.
Pilot Funding Opportunities
Translational Research Grants move concepts developed from basic work to clinical testing.
AHC Faculty Research Development Grants facilitate bench-to-bedside translation.
AHC Faculty Seed Grants provide support for new initiatives in a faculty member's research.
Minnesota Partnership for Biotechnology and Medical Genomics, a partnership with Mayo Clinic, funds collaborative research projects, infrastructure investments, and very early stage commercialization efforts.
The Center for Translational Medicine (CTM) supports the translation of discoveries by UMN investigators into phase I studies.
