Translational research support through the Office of Discovery and Translation

We help advance promising ideas and discoveries along the translational path. Researchers make groundbreaking healthcare discoveries every day, but often lack the access to the resources and expertise needed to develop these discoveries into drugs, diagnostics and devices.

At the Office of Discovery and Translation (ODAT), we help researchers put promising ideas and discoveries on the path toward improved human health. ODAT supports researchers from early- to late- stage development by providing research funding and consultation, and by connecting investigators to resources and services.

Investigators receive project-specific guidance through ODAT's network of more than 125 University of Minnesota and industry experts. These experts work together in teams across four ODAT funding programs to help advance projects along the translational development pathway.

Project teams work with investigators to create a development strategy, identify translational steps and milestones, and overcome regulatory and development barriers.
