About the Office of Community Engagement for Health
The Office of Community Engagement for Health (OCEH) was established as part of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute in April 2009. The OCEH is led by Sheila Riggs, DDS, DMSc, and is guided by a steering committee composed of community and University leaders.
Our Goals
- Establish a unifying transformative framework of engaged scholarship to strengthen mutual trust and respect between UMN and the community and to increase their research collaborations.
- Establish mechanisms to increase respectful and reciprocal use of research knowledge and resources.
- Increase engaged scholarship, wherein researchers work collaboratively with community partners to identify researchable issues that matter to the community and then coproduce relevant knowledge.

OCEH Governance: Collaborative Councils
Three collaborative councils, each led by a member of the University and chaired by a community stakeholder, provide guidance on specific activites of the OCEH. The councils provide active leadership, moving our collaborative work foward.
